How to Find the Version Number for Your Device Drivers in Windows
We have advised you not mess with your drivers if they are not broken
in the past, but from time to time issues arise and later versions of a
driver may fix an issue that you are experiencing. Here is how to see
which version any driver is at, on any recent version of Windows.
How to Find What Version Of a Driver You are Using
Drivers in general are handled through the Windows Device Manager.
To open it, press the Win + R keyboard combination, type “devmgmt.msc”
and press enter. This generic method of opening the Device Manager
allows the article to work on all recent version of Windows.
Then find the device you want to check the driver version for and
right click on it. Then choose properties from the context menu.
When the Properties dialog for your device opens, you will need to switch over to the Driver tab.
Here you will find the Driver version, marked in the screenshot below.
From here you can easily head over to your manufacturer’s website and
see if any subsequent releases of the device’s driver fixed whatever
issue it is that you seem to be having. On a related note, do you keep
your drivers updated? Let me know in the comments and email me concerning any question.
